Snow Job

Bill De Blasio will assume the office of Mayor in New York City tomorrow January 1 2014 and if the weather man is correct his ascension to that post should be greeted by some fluffy white stuff on Thursday. The New York Times recounts the history of some major snowstorms of the last half century and how those storms influenced the populace’s perceptions of the mayor. Hopefully, the new mayor will not suffer the fate of 1960s progressive cover boy John Lindsay whose bungled response to the snowstorm which greeted him severely damaged his reputation as a manager. With that lesson in front of him I hope the new mayor can efficiently respond to the vagaries of Mother Nature
